Homeland Security Advisory Council appoints new President and CEO.

 

Los Angeles County Sheriff Leroy D. Baca and Carl D. Covitz, Chairman of the Los Angeles County Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC), have announced the appointment of former District Attorney Ira Reiner as President and CEO of HSAC.


HSAC is a voluntary, non-partisan coalition of high-level business, government, law enforcement and academic leaders who are dedicated to improving homeland security and emergency response capabilities of the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area through public-private partnerships.

 

Mr. Reiner was the Los Angeles County District Attorney from 1984 - 1992, as well as both the Los Angeles City Attorney and Controller. As District Attorney, Mr. Reiner directed the largest local prosecutorial office in the world with approximately 1000 attorneys and 200 investigators.

Mr. Reiner is currently on the Visiting Faculty of IDC Herzliya University, Israel, School of Government and Diplomacy, and a member of Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa’s Commission on Homeland Security and Disaster Preparedness.

 

Mr. Reiner will assume his new role effective June 1, 2010.
